The Deputy Assessor directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of the Office of the Assessor including establishing policies and procedures; and coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments, outside agencies, and the general public.
Key Responsibilities
Lead multiple divisions and large operational teams
Drive strategic initiatives and organizational performance
Improve service delivery and modernize processes
Manage budgets, staffing, and resource planning
Interpret and implement legislation and policy changes
Mentor managers and future leaders
Represent the office with government leaders, stakeholders, and the public
Serve as acting Assessor when assigned

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with a major in public or business administration, economics, finance, accounting, real estate, information technology, or a closely related field.
AND
Four (4) years of full-time, paid experience managing staff performing assessment technical services, assessment standards, systems development, and/or audit or appraisal valuation work of residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, specialized personal and business properties, or any other property type as required by the California State Board of Equalization.
Note: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. One year of full-time experience equals 30 semester or 45 quarter units of the required education.
